Prototype figures are attractive collectibles due to their uniqueness and rarity.  The popularity of Funko Pops makes Pop prototypes especially sought after, however, buyers must be wary of fakes.  A prototype figure can cost hundreds of dollars, depending on the status of the character.  Normally, Funko Pop prototypes come in two styles.  There is an all-white version, such as the Poison Ivy one I have, and there are versions containing different colored body parts.  As a general rule of thumb, there are usually two white versions and five to six colored versions produced.  Many fakes are either recast or stripped figures.  Recasts can be identified as having softer details and by the cheap plastic used.  Most stripped figures may still retain some residual paint or spotty and discolored patches.  Be especially aware of anything from China, these are commonly counterfeit prototypes.  

This is a counterfeit Ivy prototype from China that sold on eBay for almost $100.00.  Very unfortunate for the buyer, it is not even a good fake.
